SUMMARY:Victorian Historic Boating Event
DESCRIPTION:Join the Nautical Archaeology Society for their annual Victorian Historic Boating Event.\nWant the full experience? Hire a Victorian Costume from us for the whole weekend at £72.00 including all accessories.\n\nWHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?\nEscape to the Cotswolds for a maritime heritage experience with a difference. Chose from three ways to experience travel on the Kennet and Avon Canal and Avon River as people would have done in Victorian times. Or why not try all three! And why not immerse yourself in the experience by wearing Victorian costume (not compulsory!)?\nSaturday 7th September 10:30am-4pm\nFind out what it was really like travelling along the Kennet and Avon canal in Victorian times on a cruise on Barbara McLellan which will include cream tea and exclusive live commentary from local author Alison Cannon who will read from her latest publication Victorian Boating Holidays on the Kennet and Avon Canal.\nSunday 8th September 10:30-4pm\nIn the morning\, spend two hours on the oldest electric river launch still in existence! There will be historical commentary about the canal and the interesting life of the vessel. Board Lady Lena at Darlington Wharf in Bath and travel up the canal to Claverton\, then back down to Bath top lock and returning to Darlington Wharf in time for lunch (by your own arrangement) in the beautiful city of Bath.\nIn the afternoon\, the historic boating experience gets a bit more energetic. NAS members will be able to explore the River Avon in Victorian rowing skiffs! Bring a loved one and have a romantic paddle in the beautiful riverine landscape just north of Bath. Bring some friends\, test your maritime skills and find out who will win an impromptu the ‘Head of the River’ race. Or come on your own and make new friends with other NAS members! We’ll be based out of the Bath Boating House which is also an excellent restaurant.\nWHO IS IT FOR?\nAnyone who loves history and the water. Bring a friend or loved one for an experience with a difference. NAS members will enjoy the relaxed historical maritime experience learning something new. And loved ones of NAS members will enjoy it as well!\nFive credits (or 2.5 for half day) will be awarded to NAS members to go towards their NAS Certificate or Award.\nCOSTS\nFor this special weekend\, everyone can attend at the same prices. NAS members bring your friends and share your love of maritime heritage with them!\nWhole weekend £90\nSaturday\nCanal boat £45\nSunday\nLady Lena £30\nRowing skiffs £25
